Our history

Central Florida Jobs with Justice is a coalition of community, labor, faith, and youth organizations in addition to individual activists taking action on pro-worker fights. The organization has formally been chartered as part of the National Jobs with Justice network since 2008, initially starting as a volunteer coalition, over the last 15+ CFJWJ has grown campaign capacity by organizing money and bringing on staff. We bring together organizations and individual activists around various campaigns, making sure to center workers in fights that impact them. This includes supporting direct worker organizing efforts like unionization and contract fights, and it also includes naming how working people are affected by other large problems, like climate and education.

Our mission

To build the collective power of Florida’s labor, community, faith, and youth to lead and win campaigns that transform the lives of working people and their communities.

Our Vision

A Florida where working people and communities have the power to set the terms of their workplaces, their government, and their lives.

cfjwj subcommittees 🀝

The CFJWJ team serves as co-conveners of strategic subcommittees and working groups alongside leaders from our member organizations. These groups help guide and support our current worker justice campaigns.

All subcommittees are open to community members who share our commitment to workers’ rights. If you're interested in joining a subcommittee, reach out to us at info@cfjwj.org.

  • The purpose of the Immigrant Worker Committee is to convene the immigrant workers to strategize on a safety plan for workers by targeting jobs and subcontractors creating safety plans.

  • The purpose of this committee is to cultivate an intentional and inclusive space for queer workers within Central Florida to uplift the intersections of LGBTQ rights and workers' rights. Our goals include, facilitating discussions on current LGBTQ issues affecting workers today and sharing best practices and opportunities for unions and workplaces to become more queer-inclusive.

  • The Global Liberation Committee seeks to ground the CFJWJ coalition's principles in an international perspective. In this space we look to our membership to highlight global developments and the implications they have for workers rights, and to identify actions we can take to stand in solidarity with working peoples' movements around the world.

2025 CFJwJ Top Organizing Priorities

πŸ’ͺ

2025 CFJwJ Top Organizing Priorities πŸ’ͺ

  • We advocate for transitioning our economy from extraction-based to regenerative, ensuring a Just Transition that enables everyone to thrive. That means organizing individuals to hold their electric companies accountable and fighting for investments that ensure Florida is climate resilient in the face of extreme heat and extreme weather.

  • We're mobilizing energy-burdened individuals to hold electric companies accountable for passing on rising costs and neglecting energy-efficient solutions.

  • CFJWJ has worked statewide to improve healthcare access by raising awareness and advocating for change. In 2024, we partnered with local leaders to secure over $400 million in medical debt relief from Orange County commissioners. As of 2025, over 300,000 Orange County residents have had their medical debt forgiven.

  • Alongside our Education Alliances, we're empowering local parent leaders with advanced organizing skills to tackle education issues at local and statewide levels. We believe in quality public education that is strengthened when students, parents, teachers and educators work together.
